Ravell is performing this Saturday at Beyond Wonderland! We at Electric Vibes were honored to talk to him ahead of his performance.
Ravell broke into the scene when he opened for Kaskade on his famous Redux tours. He has also captured the hearts of fans at Coachella and EDC. His latest release ‘Before I Go’ ft Kaleena Zanders even has over 500,000 streams!
His debut party at Academy LA was a huge success and even Pasquale Rotella the CEO of Insomniac Events came out to show his support. Get to know him with us and make sure to catch his set this Saturday at Beyond Wonderland.
What does your creative process look like?
My creative process consists of setting a mood. Whether it be lighting up a candle or sitting in a coffee shop. I definitely enjoy changing up my scenery.
What can your fans expect at Beyond Wonderland?
They can expect an energetic and exciting experience.
What music did you grow up listening to?
I grew up listening to all kinds of genres. It went anywhere from 90's Hip Hop, Reggaeton, to Cumbias. I listened to it all.
When did you first meet Kaskade, and what is it like having the support of one of the most respected djs in the world?
I met him at ID festival in 2011. Having his support is huge. He's been a huge mentor throughout my career and I am fortunate enough to call him a friend.
When did music become more than a hobby for you?
Music became more than just a hobby when I was 15 years old and booked my first local all ages club gig.
Congratulations on your debut party 'Ravell & Friends' inside Academy LA! What was the party like?
The party was special! We reached capacity within the first 30 minutes of the club being open, which was mind-blowing. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Is there any track of yours that you're especially proud of?
Honestly, I am proud of all my songs. Each one brings out a unique sound. It's tough to pick just one.
What inspired your last release 'Before I Go'?
The inspiration came from wanting to tell a story through a song; hence, taking the listener on a journey to move forward to a better life, a better perspective, and to leave behind the unfulfilling. That was the concept behind 'Before I Go'.
Who do you consider influences of your sound?
I wouldn't say a certain someone influences my sound, but I do gravitate towards instruments that are out of the norm. It can also be anywhere from a simple guitar pluck or vocal sample. I usually take that and evolve it into something unique.
Looking through the rest of the year, what are some things you are most looking forward to? Will we see you under a certain Electric Sky?
I'm looking forward to bigger collaborations and meeting new Ravellions on the road.
Hmmm... looks like you will have to stay tuned for that one :)
