Hydrah is performing this Saturday at Nocturnal Wonderland! We at Electric Vibes were honored to talk to her ahead of her performance. Hydrah (a.k.a. Katie Kramarczuk) is a classical trained pianist and violinist who incorporates these elements in her songs. Make sure to catch her set and get to know her with us below!

Thank you for having us today, can't wait for your Nocturnal Wonderland set! Are you dropping new music?

Thank you for having me! I will be showcasing some new music, a couple collaborations and a couple new tracks including "Paradigm Shift" which jut dropped last month.

What does your creative process look like?

It depends, if a melody comes to me first then I build the track around that. I often start composing on the piano. If the bass comes to me first then I use that as a foundation to build melodies on, so it really can go either way. There are always keys involved since that is what I am most comfortable with.

What music did you grow up listening to?

I grew up performing a lot of classical music so naturally listened to a lot of that. Another favorite genre of mine is reggae. That is probably the genre that first got me into bass guitar and just the power of bass in general. I was in a punk rock band for a while, so listened to a lot of punk and melodic metal as well.

What inspired your latest single "Paradigm Shifts"?

The festival scene actually inspired this track. I dreamed of composing something to end my set with at a festival and am so pumped that this will now be a reality! It also represents my transitional from a live act to a Dj act.

In three words how would you describe your music style?

Melodic, ethereal and emotive

Looking through the rest of the year, what are some things you are most looking forward to?
I have a lot of music in the pipe line that will be releasing through the end of the year and into next. I am hoping to continue djing as well as booking a few live acts here and there. I am also looking forward to getting back in the studio, continuing to compose and hopefully getting a few more big collaborations out as well! I also look forward to continue working as an ambassador for Oceanic Global and becoming more inspired and involved in ocean conservation efforts. The ocean is my biggest inspiration (I am hoping to get out surfing before my set on Saturday)
