This weekend, i attended Movement Electronic Music Festival. It's a 3 day festival in Detroit, Michigan that brings some of best techno Dj's in the world, names like Carl Cox, Testpilot aka Deadmau5, Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Paco Osuna, Truncate , Carl Craig, among many others.
This year Movement Festival was a bit more special than any other year, It was the 11th anniversary of this legendary techno gathering. As usual, Movement had many things in store for their visitors during the 3 days of the festival. Starting from the spectacular line up that they put together, which included up coming talents , local Djs , very successful artists and superstars, all of them spread around 6 stages.
The energetic crowd is a mix of boys an girls of all ages and backgrounds, some are dressed up, some are dressed down, but they all get along and make for an incredible atmosphere across the weekend.
The organization of the event was outstanding. It was noticeable that there is a solid experience and passion for the music. I can confidently say unlike many other festival I've attended, I encountered very minimal issues at Movement. Here I didn't encounter any issues like never-ending lines for drinks, toilets, entrance, etc.
The food was delicious, trucks had a little something for everyone. Food was fairly priced. Some of my favorites were the chicken on a stick, pulled pork and cheeseburgers. I think this staple should become a standard for festivals around the world where food is overly priced and tasteless.
The festival was not just about partying, there was never a lack of things to do at Movement. There were marketing workshops from companies like Pioneer showcasing their amazing products and teaching their capabilities. There was always something worth seeing on stage somewhere. Always a friend to run into, or chill places to relax.
I had the opportunity to attend the closing party with Carl Cox and Joseph Capriati playing together. The after party took place at the beautiful Masonic Temple, just a couple minutes away from Hart Plaza . It started at 11pm and ended at 4am . Carl and Joseph had the crowd going crazy during their whole set, where they played some of their new music and classic tunes. I can easily say it was one of the best parties I've ever attended.
Thank you Detroit, Thank you Movement!! See you next year.
